The gardens, meadows, and woodlands at NEBG have evolved and so has the audience who enjoys them. Once a more formal space, today's Garden is welcoming to all communities and cultures of people who want to experience the beauty and serenity of nature. For Trustee, Gayle Weiss and her husband Chick, long-term garden members, this engagement is reflective of our changing world and the need for everyone to connect and understand the environment around them.
Gayle and Chick are frequent visitors, bringing guests, attending classes, concerts, exhibition openings and enjoying quiet walks. Like many during Covid, they found a new appreciation for the variety of benefits offered at New England Botanic Garden.
They are delighted that the educational programs continue to expand and attract people of all ages. Chick is especially interested in sharing environmental education with the students at The Nativity School in Worcester, which he co-founded. The Garden's Youth Education staff have taught classes at the school and students have come to the Garden to volunteer and complete their service work. These experiences stimulate the senses and show the students the interconnectedness of nature in our lives.
It is important to Gayle and Chick that they support the Garden in all ways; financially, by volunteering and sharing the experience with others. They encourage you to help in any way you can.
