A Gardener for Life

A Gardener for Life

When I moved to Central Massachusetts more than thirty years ago, I visited the fledgling Tower Hill right away. It was a much smaller organization back then but full of promise. I've always been interested in horticulture and gardens, as open space is so precious to this native New Yorker. As a child I tended a small garden behind our Brownstone that saw only 45 minutes of sunshine daily, but I managed to grow roses, weigela, vinca, of course hostas, and rhododendron. Like the small garden of my youth, we need to carefully tend the New England Botanic Garden to make it bloom. For most of us that means a monetary donation -aren't we lucky to have all those volunteers and professionals to tend the garden?

A visit to the NEBG is a tonic, a pause from all the cares of our lives, and a joy to see all the children and families from all walks of life enjoying the gardens. For me, each visit inspires me to plant what thrives at Tower Hill in my very own garden here in Massachusetts. So, as I plant at home, I also plant at New England Botanic Garden with financial support. I also intend to leave a legacy gift to perpetuate the life of this most precious New England treasure well after I'm gone.

Join me and the many others in supporting the important environmental work taking place at the Garden by considering a legacy gift to perpetuate the garden' s mission to connect people to plants, and to encourage a respect and love for the planet.
